At Gregory Distribution, we have a vacancy for a qualified LGV Technician to work out of our busy Cullompton depot. 

 

Our Fleet Services Department, are responsible for keeping our modern fleet of vehicles on the road. This currently consists of over 500 trucks and 700 trailers based at over 20 sites across the UK. This is a key position within our business and we rely on the expertise and competence of our mechanics to keep our vehicles and trailers on the road. You will therefore need to be flexible and have the ability to work on your own initiative.

 

Gregory's pride themselves on their current fleet and you will be working on high spec, 420 bhp Scania trucks.

The position involves:

  • Diagnosing and fault finding of any issues with the vehicles and trailers.

  • Ensure all vehicles & trailers are maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, especially in relation to oil change parameters.

  • Ensure all parts are booked out correctly.

  • Ensure all legal documents are filled out accurately and on time and are readily available for processing.

  • Booking out time for each job that is carried out and the relevant paperwork given to the Workshop Controllers.

  • By your own example ensure all staff conducts themselves in a courteous & professional manner.

  • Ensure that best practice is always employed in relation to component replacement; repair duration; document completion.

  • Provide mentoring and quality training to all trainees.

  • Provide support and assist the workshop controller to meet and surpass all agreed targets.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace environment.

  • Paramount is the safeguarding at all times of the company’s “O” licence and good reputation and standing in regard to all matters relating to maintenance.

  • Due to the nature of the role, Health and Safety and Safe Systems of work are paramount.You must ensure that you are following the company’s health and safety policy at all times.

     

Essential Skills required:

  • Part -Qualified LGV Technician up to Level 2 (Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and repair)

  • Attending training to become fully qualified to Level 3 LGV

  • Intuitive diagnostic skills

  • Ability to carry out PMI to DVSA standards

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good team player Ability to work to deadlines and under own initiative
